Rathbone Launches Sleek and Affordable ‘No.6’ Parlor Acoustic Guitars

0

Rathbone has just launched the compact and cheap acoustic guitars that little bit warmer with its very beautiful and reasonably priced ‘No. 6’ living room acoustics.

There are two options in the range, one a classic all-mahogany construction, the other a bit more exotic, combining a solid Englemann spruce top with bocote back and sides, with the bodies of both instruments finished with tidy binding and sporty split headstocks.

Both #6 saloons have a relatively short 24.4″ ladder and measure 38.5″ from nose to tail. Those dimensions are certainly couch-friendly, and if you’re all looking for an acoustic guitar for traveling and don’t like Rathbone’s small-scale #1 baby gig, they’re only 1.5 inches longer and worth trying side by side to see which is more suitable.

Indeed, although the #6 models have the same dimensions, rosewood fingerboards and 42mm bone nut providing a similar feel, you’ll want to compare and contrast the two models as the tonewoods should make a big difference. in their sound.

The all-mahogany R6M has a solid mahogany top with sapele on the back and sides, identifying it as potentially the duo’s hottest instrument. Maybe it could be the Delta blues fingerpickers.

The R6M is “a warm, mellow tone that works especially well as a backing instrument,” says Rathbone. “It responds well to strumming and fingerpicking, occupying the midrange with balance and personality.

As for the Spruce/Bocote R6SB, this should offer a bit more presence in the upper mids and high end, with an abundance of sparkle coming from this bocote, just as you would expect from an acoustic at maple back.

Elsewhere, both No. 6 models have chrome open-gear tuners, rosewood bridges and abalone rosettes, small dot inlays and an angled headstock design that Rathbone says will increase note clarity and definition. on open notes.

The R6M and R6SB have gloss lacquer finishes and an area available now from authorized dealers. The R6M is priced at £299, while the R6SB sells for £415.
