Gibson announces ‘The Slash Collection’ of electric/acoustic guitars

Gibson Announces “Slash Collection” of Electric/Acoustic Guitars, to Premiere at Winter NAMM Show 2020

In June 2019, Rock Cellar featured an exclusive interview with the high-end guitar god slash, who spoke at length on a number of topics. Among them was his lifelong love for the guitar, which isn’t surprising considering his incredible success on a six-string with Guns N’ Roses over the years.

On Thursday, Gibson announced some very special news: the company is launching a new collection of Slash guitars, which will include several electric and acoustic instruments. The set will officially premiere at the NAMM Show next week, January 16-19, in Anaheim, CA.

More details, via the press release, note that the collection includes four Les Paul Standard electric guitars and two J-45 Standard acoustic models. Following:

Each Slash Collection Les Paul Standard features an AAA maple top, solid mahogany body, and Slash’s signature touches, including a C-shaped neck profile, Gibson “SlashBucker” pickups, appointments you color-coordinated hardware, hand-wired electronics with orange capacitors and a vintage-style brown hard case. Exclusive to the Slash Collection: Slash’s signature “Scully” design on back of headstock, Slash’s signature on truss rod cover, blank truss rod cover in case, new strings Slash’s Ernie Ball and four Slash Jim Dunlop Tortex® picks. . The Slash Collection Les Paul Standard is available in November Burst, Appetite Burst, Vermillion Burst and Anaconda Burst.

Guitars: Anaconda Burst, November Burst, Appetite Burst and Vermillion Burst.

And some relevant quotes, provided by Gibson:

“Developing my new collection with the new team at Gibson has been really exciting,” says slash. “The quality and attention to detail is next level, and these guitars really reflect what I play live and in the studio. I think guitarists will be inspired by what we’ve put together.

“Working with Slash is an honor and developing his new Gibson collection has been an incredible journey; Slash is a perfectionist and guitar nerd like me, and the new Slash collection is a true reflection of him,” says Cesar Gueikian, Chief Mercantile Officer of Gibson.

A fun note: In our interview, the guitarist even recounts how a trip to the NAMM Show in the early 1990s contributed to (according to his recollections) one of his iconic Gibson guitars later in the decade.
